Internet -Ready Resume
I work as a Career Service professional, and one of the things our office does is advise job seekers on how to prepare a resume that is “Internet-ready” Here are some tips:
Limit type-face and/or font sizes and use a universal font for the entire document. Arial and Times New Roman are good choices. Make sure that important information is in the top half of the page. Don’t make the employer scroll down the page to see how qualified you are. No italics. Most of my clients love italics, but they just don’t translate well as part of the on-line form. Try underlining or bolding instead. And always, be absolutely error-free. Because of the simple format, errors in electronic resumes seem to jump out at the reader.
