How Long Can Eggs Be Left Unrefrigerated?

eggsOr, maybe more to the point, how long can they be forgotten in the back an SUV before you entertain the possibility of food poisoning?

This morning as I was loading the girls into the truck after gymnastics I spied a plastic bag in the rear of the truck.  My eggs!  From our grocery excursion…  Last Friday.  So they have been in the truck 4 entire days.  Quite obviously without refrigeration.

I’m still not sure how they got left in there.  Except for the fact that they were in a plastic bag…  Since I take my own bags I don’t look for plastic in my truck.  So I’m guessing they got overlooked as I thought it was just a bunch of plastic bags that we keep in the truck for garbage emergencies and poo.

The thought of wasted food annoys me.  And the fact that they were put in plastic makes me angry as I had leftover bags that weren’t used- why weren’t my eggs put in there?  It’s a conspiracy.

But, hey, if anyone can answer my question please do.  Before I poison my family with tainted eggs.

I wish I knew! That is a good question.
Personally, I wouldn’t use them. But, I don’t know that I’m the person to ask because I throw eggs away when it’s 3 or 4 days BEFORE their expiration date. I’m a freak like that.
Sorry! Hope you get your answer …and soon!
