Well … I did! 

A couple of weeks ago, I was asked by the TNT team to view a sneak peek of the second season of SouthLAnd, a high impact drama based around a fictitious police force in and around the Los Angeles area.   I agreed and as silly as it sounds, it was the title that intrigued me the most.   Because I didn’t want to view the second season before the first … I rented it and sat down one afternoon to check out an episode.  Maybe two.  And I watched the ENTIRE SEASON. 

It was THAT good. 

While I want to make sure it’s known that this is an adult drama … as it can be a bit racy at times, it really grabbed me and now I CAN NOT wait for the second season to begin next week. 

However … I have a SouthLAnd DVD set of Season One that I’m giving away over on my blog … all you have to do is leave a comment to enter … so head on over and do just that.

So, I had to go right out and get the fixin’s for my version of Italian Beef.

• 4 lb. rump roast
• 1 (0.7 oz.) package of Italian Salad Dressing Mix
• 1 tsp. black pepper
• 1 tsp. salt
• 1 tsp. oregano
• 1 tsp. onion salt
• 1 tsp. garlic powder
• 3 cups beef broth

1. Place roast in crock-pot. 
2. In a saucepan, combine all other ingredients, stirring well and bringing to a boil.
3. Pour over roast into the crock-pot.
4. Cover and cook on low 10-12 hours or high for about 6 to 8 hours.
5. Shred the meat with a fork.
6. Serve with provolone or swiss cheese on Italian rolls.  Don’t forget to top your sandwich with pepperoncini. 
7. Enjoy with french fries/chips and cottage cheese!

Note:  I wanted this in a hurry and substituted the roast for 2 pounds of thinly sliced deli roast beef.  Prepared it the same way as above, only had it in the crockpot for approx. 4 hours on low.  Also, 2 lbs. fed a family of 6 with NO LEFTOVERS so plan accordingly.

Ray Romano, Scott Bakula and Andre Braugher are the three middle aged men that the show is based around. Though the pilot didn’t give much on the characters, but just enough to crave more. Learning more and more about them will obviously have to take place as the series progresses.

It’s hard to say whether Men Of A Certain Age will be classified as a comedy or drama … because there is a little of both mixed in. While most new shows cater towards women or kids … this one definitely leans in the other direction and is something the guys will totally relate to and find very entertaining. Us women? We will giggle at the similarities we find in our men … as they reach all the joys of middle age.

The show premiers tonight at 9pm central time on TNT.
